Editorial Design — Blunt Magazine
Dance has a deeply rooted history and has always been a raw form of expression.
The use of the body to convey meaning and emotion captivates an audience, allowing viewers to connect with the emotions. The article this magazine is based off of is “The Impoverishment of American Culture”, by Dan Gioia. She touches on the idea that art and entertainment don’t always have to be linked when discussing today’s popular culture.
I wanted the magazine spreads to maintain that fluidity and convey movement by rotating and extending the images purposely to guide the reader through the story. For the series of covers I wanted to keep that motion while also paying tribute to the publication name, Blunt by disrupting the images with a black stroke and spacing between the photographs.
